Wayne Russell

Wayne Russell Wayne Russell Wayne David Russell of Mineral Wells, Texas, served as chief of police in St. Ignace for many years. Mr. Russell passed away Monday, December 4, 2017. He was 85.

He was born December 1, 1932, the eldest son of Clyde and Lillian Russell, in the Upper Peninsula, where he grew up.

After moving to Texas, he was employed as an industrial radiologist at Perry Equipment Corporation, where he worked until he retired.

Mr. Russell was involved with church activities at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mineral Wells. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he was a Fourth Degree Knight.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Letha; four children and their families, Raymond and Carolyn Russell, Jenny and Rick Peterson, Matthew and Laurie Russell, and Robin and Michellea Russell; 12 grandchildren, Brandon and Stacey Russell, Michael Russell, Katherine Russell, Andrew Peterson, Nicole Peterson, Christopher and Carrie Russell, Amy Russell, Jeffrey and Kassandra Russell, Kelly and Michael Roell, Genevieve Russell, Houston Russell, and Duncan Russell, and nine great-grandchildren, Rebecca Russell, Elizabeth Russell, Jacob Russell, Kaley Russell, Evelyn Roell, Jason Nelon, Rylee Nelon, Brendan Russell, and Ava Russell. He is also survived by two sisters and their families, Dixie and John Kibler and Heidi and Wayne Milbauer; a brother and his family, Jack and Rose Ann Russell; a sister-in-law and her family, Marilyn and Raymond Wilkins of St. Ignace, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, December 9, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mineral Wells.

Visitation was Friday, December 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church, with a rosary at 6 p.m.

White’s Funeral Home in Mineral Wells assisted the family with arrangements.
