Paul Repath


Paul Repath Paul Repath Paul Repath, 79, of Alpena, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, at his home.

He was born to February 5, 1938, to Ambrose and Vivian (nee Edwards) Repath in Lake Linden.

He married Gillian Edwards December 17, 1960.

Mr. Repath was graduated from Northern Michigan University. He also earned a master’s degree from Central Michigan University.

He was employed as a math teacher, first at Cheboygan High School in Cheboygan, and then at St. Johns Public Schools. He retired in 1992.

While working full-time, Mr. Repath attended Cooley Law School in Lansing, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1982.

During the summers, he and his family would spend time in Mackinaw City, where he was employed as a captain with Straits Transit Company, and then for Arnold Transit Company transporting visitors to Mackinac Island.

Mr. Repath was a people person. He loved the Great Lakes and also the Green Bay Packers. Most recently, he enjoyed his new hobby of photography. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Jaedyn.

He is survived by two children and their families, Andrew and Rosane Repath and Lisa and Bob Wissmiller; three grandchildren, Jaedyn, Keith, and Jessica, and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Repath was preceded in death by his wife, Gillian, who died March 8, 2017; a daughter and son-inlaw, Heather and David Donovan, and a brother, David Edwards.

A memorial service was held Saturday, December 16, at 2 p.m. at Bannan Funeral Home in Alpena with the Very Reverend William McClure, Jr. officiating. Visitation was from noon to time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Sparrow Hospital Neonatal Unit, University of Michigan Pediatric Oncology Department, or the Huron Humane Society.
