Pickford Panthers Boys Topple Raiders and Saints on Court

Pickford’s boys basketball team has entered the holiday break week with two wins. The Panthers beat DeTour 57-27 Thursday, December 14, and topped St. Ignace 52-49 Tuesday, December 12. Coach Drew Paquin’s team is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Eastern U.P. Athletic Conference.

In the win over DeTour, Pickford was up 14-7 after the first quarter, 34-15 at halftime, and 53-21 after the third quarter. Nick Edington scored 22 points for Pickford, while Travis Green and Jimmy Storey had nine apiece and Joey Boik added six.

The win against St. Ignace was a nail-biter. Pickford led 20-17 after the first quarter, but trailed 34-32 at halftime. Pickford had a 45-43 lead after the third quarter and outscored St Ignace 7-6 in the last quarter.

Storey had 14 points. Edington and Travis Green had 10 apiece for Pickford. Batho had six points.

Pickford will resume action at home Tuesday, January 2, against Harbor Springs and play at Engadine Thursday, January 4.
